History of Bingo!

The basic game of online bingo dates back to 1530 when a state run lotto was originated in Italy. "Le Lotto" was taken forward by the French in the 1700s to a game where players had a playing card and numbers were read aloud, which was similar to the game we know today as Bingo.

Throughout the next century many variations of bingo games spread through Europe using the same concept but often different grid sizes and a different set of numbers. In America, Edwin Lowe was central to introducing the game of bingo after introducing a game called "Beano" to his friends. Beano consisted of dried beans, a rubber number stamp and some cardboard. If players filled a line of numbers with their beans they'd call BEANO!, which became BINGO! by pure fluke.

Bingo has exploded in the UK once the Betting and Gaming Act of 1960 permitted the formation of a large number of commercial lotto clubs. The likes of Mecca bingo and Gala Bingo were soon into the full swing of things, bringing happiness to many players.

The explosion of the broadband internet access has propelled online bingo to many homes wheres thousands of players play every night across hundreds of rooms, whether it's 75 ball, 90 ball, download, flash, free bingo, jackpot bingo, gay bingo or scottish bingo. You're sure to find your perfect bingo online with such variety!
